Alternatives to Duplo DSM-1000 B2 platen die cutter (250–300k) - looking for non-digital options

Hi everyone,

We’ve been looking at the DSM-1000 B2 platen die cutter, but with the price landing somewhere around $250–300k, I’m hoping to find more affordable options. We don’t have a set budget yet, so I’m open to anything, from new machines to used or refurbished units.

Just to clarify, we’re not looking for digital cutters. We already have three, so what we really need is a traditional mechanical platen die cutter for higher-volume, repeat jobs.

If anyone has experience with good alternatives, I’d really appreciate recommendations or even general insight. Things like what models you’ve had success with, price ranges you’ve seen, reliability, ease of getting parts, or dealers you trust, anything helps. Also, if there are any hidden costs or “gotchas” I should be aware of.

Thanks in advance!

Why not just use a traditional platen press. I have worked in a couple of places that had a Heidelberg cylinder platen press. Certainly works for high volume and they are usually available on the used market.

I second the Heidelberg cylinder for larger sheets or a Heidelberg platen (Windmill) for smaller sheets

What about a Rotary Die Cutter like a Rollem, seem to be solid

Sorry for sounding too negative to all replies....

We already have one of those rotary die cutters and it is great! (Duplo brand) But unfortunately they don't work well with this machine https://graphco.com/fold-stream/ , which is something we are acquiring in the near future.

Thanks!
