Question Any Ideas of which Vinyl and Lam?

So my father in law owns a fishing lure company and orders these carpet graphics for boats for his staff members. The Laminate is really thick and has a decent amount of texture to the top of it. Pics are attached for reference. Just curious what 3M product they're using that adheres to carpet so well and which laminate they're using as I haven't used any like it before.

I would say IJ39 on that and not the IJ35. Theres no air egress pattern there. As for the lam, that looks more like a standard pebble type of floor finish on it. 3645 has a different texture on it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone! The lam is definitely thicker than 6mil, has to be closer to 18-20mil. The Decals came from zdecals.com. It does not seem to hurt the carpet much or if at all from what I've seen, but I haven't had time to stick them myself at this time to see.

If it is truly that thick of a lam then it is 3649. There is an air release pattern if you look at it and it's V2/3. If it's not pulling any fibers it would have to be a 40c adhesive because 35c would yank fibers.

Found the Culprit! Its 3M IJ170Cv3!
Seriously doubt that. That's a cast film, that laminate is not and it's a floor decal. IJ35C is likely it. I don't use it but am pretty sure the backing is the same as the picture and it is also available with comply adhesive but not controltac like IJ40C.

Ij35c is grey text see image, and they switched the air release pattern to squares not diagonal lines. I have 35, 35c, 40c, 48c, 160cv3, 170cv3, 175cv3, 180cv3, 3555c, 3552c here on my floor. 170Cv3 is the only match to backing and adhesive.

3645 and 3649 are used frequently over cast films

Well then I stand corrected. Why so many different medias that are very similar? Seems like that would make inventory difficult and require a bunch of switching around

We are not a 3M shop, we are Avery and Arlon... But we have a lot of spec jobs from our clients so those are either leftovers or materials queued to a job. Honestly, the majority of those are Short rolls now as we purge them out.

Christian just stumbled on this thread I've been searching for the same material, I've ordered the 170cv3 and it's not the same material. The 170cv3 has a rough backing makes noise when you run fingernails over it, The backing on these stickers is smooth. The adhesive looks smooth aswell but has the lines in it kinda weird.

Good to know, I haven't tried the 170cv3 yet. I do have the laminate which is the 3M 3647. So the question still remains on the 3M adhesive part. When applied to carpet, the 3m feels like it's glued down because it sticks so well. Not easy to pull it off either.

Anyone remember Gerber/3M Permagrip vinyl? We used to use it on our Gerber Edge. I would suspect it's something (digital version) like that - needs to bite like crazy to adhere to carpet well.
