APS error 23:10, where's the leak?

I have a HP latex 330 that is giving me 23:10 APS error. The pumps runs more than they should (buzzing longer and more often) but I cannot find any leaks on the air or ink system, no pinched lines and everything seems fine inside. I am thinking of replacing the APS pumps and those lines first, but is there any other common culprit you should look at before replacing too many parts?

Of course tried all the standard remedies as pulling all cartridges etc.

Super many thanks in advance, we are on a remote location so the techs are few and far between, that's why we are solving issues ourselves on the used machines. =)

make sure all fittings are tight, check up by the carriage assy. make sure no leaks where printheads connect to ink line.

Thanks greysquirrel, I'll have another round with the tubes and see what I can find. I've not checked the end of the clear hose that goes along the backside of the printer, does that one go up to the carriage maybe?

So, checked all air connectors once more, also on the other side of machine. Cut off the tubes one some of the fittings to get a fresh and tight seal but no improvement - throws 23:10 at startup and pumps running long and often. I get the machine up to idle and timed the time between the pumps running which was about 58 seconds. I then by hand pinched the black thin tube coming from the pumps when the pumps had switched off and now the time between pumping increased to 4 minutes. When I let go it is back to 58 seconds. Tried this a couple of times with the same result. Seems like the air is leaking backwards through worn pumps, is that possible? I took a long shot and ordered a new APS assembly (~$200) with pumps and some tubing so I'm going to replace the pumps (if I get them out) and see if there's an improvement - fingers crossed! I will update. If in the meantime anyone has done this replacement (part of the SMK kit?) please let me know if you have any tips or if you have any other ideas.

So an update to this, I got new APS pumps from the US and it was a very easy swap if you are somewhat confident with ripping off the covers and using a screwdriver. Took about 30-40 minutes since I already had the left cover off. Just make sure the hoses and connectors gets right. The ISS station pops out so you don't remove anything on that or remove everything the service manual says.

Now the printer works flawlessly again and the new pumps runs very short periods, about 2-5 seconds tops. And they pause for a long time as well so the leak was inside the pumps themselves. The new pumps has rubber fittings to the chassie so they are also much quieter as an added bonus.

If you have the same issues you have great help of a service manual to replace these and also reset the life counters.

Hi, i have the same problem. Please help, send me a LINK where to buy APS pump. Or u have any pics how replace? Thank u !!!!
my email: info@rklm.sk
my machine is latex L310
APS assy is B4H69-67055. How to replace is already explained on the post before you. Remove the left cover and lift the ISS package out.
Turn the machine on and let it pressurise system, then turn it off from the main switch behind. You can listen to where it's leaking.

Hi,

lately this same happend to me. Solution in my case was realy simple. Problem was cartridge - it has leaks and didn't hold pressure.

Service told me to remove all cartridges and run machine - if it goes without error it's probably faulty cartridge.
It goes smoothly without error so i found faulty cartridge and exchange it to new one. Now it's goes OK

Run the aps diagnostic. See if it builds pressure (it aims for something like 5000).
If it goes up there but barely stays, turn off the machine from the back switch while running the test and start listening where is it hissing and losing air from.
Likely one of the PIPs is leaking or some other connection point where the tube can be split and leaking.

Or have someone else look at the display while running the test and start pinching the tubes at different points. You will find the leak eventually.

Hi Balstestrat, thank you very much, I followed the 2nd advise as well and managed to isolate the problem. it was on LM PIP, I changed it. now I am good.

Thanks for all the info.
I too have same error.
Have purchased genuine replacement APS Pump. Took three weeks on order.
Still getting the 23:10 error. Pumps still run constant then in a couple of minutes the error code comes up.
Cannot find any info on where to find where to run the APS diagnostics test.

Being in a remote area the techs want to charge me an arm & a leg to come & fix.
Have attached the error image from the screen.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

You have to boot in to the diagnostic mode and you will find the APS pressurization test there.
