Auto numbering in Illy?

I think this has been discussed here before but I can't find it. Is there a way to auto number in Illustrator? I have CS3. I have 100 decals to print starting from number 1559. Before we got our new Epson, we had an Edge and auto numbering is easy in Omega. I could do it in Omega, save all 100 decals as 1 file then bring it into Illy, but I was hoping there was a way to do it in Illy. I don't want to Edge print them.

I do not know of a way to do this in Illustrator. Do you have InDesign? You could create a csv file of the numbers you need, perform a data merge, and save the file out as a PDF.
