Avery MPI 1005/ HP L25500 grief

We've had an ongoing issue with Avery MPI 1005 wrap film not printing well on our L25500.
See pics. The ink won't lay down evenly, especially in dark areas/blacks.
Funny thing is it seems to come good if we print 2-3 metres.
Which isn't the most economical way to operate.
We had no problems with 54" bundles we were getting, then all 3 or 4 of the 60" bundles started giving us this problem.
Our supplier has tried helping, and gone to Avery who gave us optimal print settings etc etc.
I thought it was simply a bad batch so ordered another roll from a different batch which printed fine out of the box, then after leaving it in the printer for a day started showing the same issue.
Very frustrating. Especially since old 54" roll pieces print fine.
We've tried all the recommended settings but nothing fixes it.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this, and if so how did you resolve it?
I'm starting to think a switch to 3M 180 might be the way forward.

Thanks for reading.

I can't offer you any specific help unfortunately, but when I had my L26500 installed I was using Avery MPI1005 EZRS at the time and the consultant was having great difficulty profiling the media. I believe it was with the ink limits but I can't recall specifically. I had been considering changing brands so I ordered in some Arlon DPF6000 XRP and haven't had as many problems except that Arlon's stock profile is too dense when using an RGB black (I'll get a custom profile soon).

Thanks mate. The first roll I got went straight back - ink wouldn't take to it at all.

I spoke to Avery and they are going to sort this. It looks like just a bad batch.

same issue

I just had the same problem over the weekend on my XC-540. I thought it was my printer, then I put a new roll on, and it was perfect. the first roll or 2 had a spot running down the center that was just like a fine dotted line, then 2 rolls went through with speckles all over High coverage areas. Then I put the next roll on, and it was perfect. I know it wasnt the file or settings because the perfect prints were just more panels from the same ripped file. not sure what to do. fellers said they need the vinyl back to start a claim, but I already shipped a 53' semi that I know has been applied.

had a similar issue with their 2903EZ gloss but turned out it was a bad roll. it was fine for the first 50-70ft and then started having problems with it. when it printed it gave the same appearance as if you printed with the heaters too low. ended up trashing it wasn't worth the fight with avery so i switched to the oracal 3651 air release and haven't had any problems

It all got a bit hard.
Despite getting another replacement roll to replace the replacement roll the same issue occurred.
Weird it's only on the 60" media.
Anyway we've decided to switch to 3M.
We need a product that just prints right out of the box.
