Backlit Advice Needed

I do a lot of work for people that restore old video games. A frequent request is for the marquee on a game. I just got an SP-540V, so my options have increase greatly. What materials would you guys use for an old 80's video game marquee. Sometimes they are backlit with incandescent lights that can get pretty hot. The marquee needs to be able to support it's own weight but be as thin as possible. It will sit in a channel with a piece of Plexi-glass in from of it.

polycarbonate perhaps? Use a cast vinyl and lam.. They can withstand 100 Celsius so I doubt an incandescent lightbulb would do much harm

I've never used a polycarbonate laminate. Is it stiff or flexible? Can it be cut with a Versacamm?
