North Carolina just had it's Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament and a man landed the record 883-pound blue marlin only to lose the tournament and over 900k because one of the crew did not pay NC $15 for a fishing license.

Didn't know you needed a license to be crew. Always thought you only need a license if you have a rod in hand.

Under tournament rules, “anyone fishing aboard a vessel” in the Big Rock must have a N.C. fishing license, including the captain, the mate and anglers.
