Best heavy duty Scrim Banner.

Just wondering what everyone recommendation is on heavy duty one sided scrim banner. Something more durable than 13oz standard scrim.

Not interested in two sided blockout.

The thickness of the material increases proportionally to the number of "oz". So if you're looking for heavy duty, try 16, 18 or 20oz banner material.

As for double-sided, heavy duty banner material is typically coated for printing on both sides. You're just going to have to live with that. Just print on one side of it - the other side will be fine.

But I find most of the coatings on 2 sided banner to be easily scratched. 18oz Bantex to be the only exception, but it is quite expensive.

When customers want a more durable print, give them the option of brushing on liquid laminate to protect the print. It makes the colours pop too - customers love colours that "pop".

I don't make a lot of banners, however I have a customer who wants a printed 5'x10" banner to hang outdoors and wants it to last for one year.

What kind (name) of liquid coating do you use painted over a eco-solvent banner to make it last longer?

I have used ClearShield Canvas Guard for years, however it's NOT for use with solvent banners outdoors, only interior used Gallery Wrapped canvas prints.

Have you used ClearShield for outdoor banners?

I have used it on banners. It makes the colours pop, and holds on great. I cannot say how it held up outdoors though. I can't remember, but I did not get any complaints...

Anyone use Superfrog Liquid Overlaminate on outdoor printed banners?

Grimco sells Superfrog Liquid Overlaminate here in central TX for $108.59 per gallon with FREE shipping (over $100)?

SignWarehouse sells ClearShield Semi-Gloss for $94.49 per gallon and $6.99 shipping on entire order (I can use some other stuff to).

I really think the semi-gloss coating would look better on a printed banner...........thoughts.....

We have laminated banners in the past with a standard 3 mil laminate, oraguard 210 I think, the banner gets a date change on it every 6 months, it's only outdoors for 4 weeks a year but it's lasted 7 years of being rolled up and thrown in the trunk of a car.

But honestly, if you are only looking to have a banner last a year, a standard 130z banner should be able to do that no problem, provided it's installed properly.

Thanks Bob, That's good to know. I have made a few printed banners, however they were only required for short durations, this client is requesting a ONE YEAR guarantee so I want to protect it from the elements.

I wonder if there is any good way to find out if a banner material uses Polymeric Plasticizers or Monomeric Plasticizers, as I have found no specification sheets that list that.

I don't know about the material or where to get it, but if you don't want to bother doing it yourself, Georgia Printco does webbing with what they call a "seatbelt" material.
