better dtf printer

Smoke_Jaguar

Man who touches printers inappropriately.
Odd that the white and white+color speeds are vastly different. Guess they didn't bother staggering the heads? Figured that was a given on DTF.

Epson has a weird history of new printer types. Back when people were ripping apart the Stylus Pro printers apart to make DTG, they took their sweet time finally making their own. Same thing happened with DTF. Late to the game doesn't mean bad though.

One thing I do hate about Epson is their idiotic service lockout. Print a certain amount of time and it sets a flag and you have to call in a tech or find a cracked service program just to reset a counter for some dumb thing like an absorber pad.

It is one head, I think the same head as on the Epson R5070 and the new solvents

Pretty sure it'll be this head , the only description I've seen of the head is "Larger PrecisionCore MicroTFP printhead"

I always get 5 year warranty on my Epson's, 0 worries on service. Techs show up next day

That's a very smart approach....but the dual shaker seems spendy and could be a performance variable (not tracking straight....one unit running faster than the other?). I'll guess that a wider shaker is in the works.

None of that applies to shakers (tracking, speed) etc , lots of tolerance. Its near impossible to mess it up.

wider shakers and film will be available by the time printer is out

Also not spendy, you can get those two shakers from alibaba for $5k total delivered. Same factory and internals as the 30" shaker roland sells

You overpaid~
Are you talking about the shakers?

it is crazy how much US dealers mark up the shakers 4-5x the cost.

My first shaker I bough from a US dealer for $9000, second one I got from alibaba, same exact thing for $2800 delivered.

There are what maybe 2 factories that make the shakers?

Whether it’s a US supplier or Alibaba, by the time the machine gets to you it’s already passed through at least five hands, each adding markup. That’s honestly why traditional trade suppliers like me can still survive internationally.Sorry, I won’t go any further promoting myself here.I’m not a Signs101 merchant yet.

That's awesome! I had no idea you could get them that cheap

That looks like it's probably an Epson exclusive head that they don't sell to other manufacturers. Looks like an array of S800 heads with a single faceplate.

Most shakers tend to run around $3-5k for 24" from China, order a dozen or so and they'll toss your brand on them. Lots of companies claiming their $10K shakers are amazing, super safe, and don't need ventilation, and they're almost all rebrands.

Ventilation is a great idea, if you use a filter system, good idea to keep a cheap VOC/particle meter running to see if it's working. Also, allergies to the resins in the shaker powders are common, and good to check employees for sensitivities to it. Rashes, skin irritation, etc. Venting the fumes helps reduce these issues significantly.

Ppe + ventilation is a must. I have dtf in an isolated room and go into the room with a respirator on only.

None of the "no external exhaust " shakers have any safety testing behind them. I've asked.

Also no matter how careful you are with the power, everything is covered in it. Respirator is the only way imo.

Makes me cringe watching people pour powder in without a respirator on

you know, it only took a year but our mimakis run great now and we rarely have issues that a few cleanings can’t fix. But god they were nightmares for a while. Newest dampers and firmware are solid. Just wish they had a wider color gamut. Debating buying one more but will likely look at a 9 color printer
