Beyond Frustrated

Had a technician from Beacon Graphics in New Jersey to do an annual service on our Mimaki cjv 150-130. Upon arrival he stated that he only had 1 hr. to service the machine and had another appointment to get to. We requested that he replace the captop, adjust media/ feed comp. and update rasterlink for us.
While installing the captop he broke the captop holder without telling us. He then proceeded to update rasterlink for us, but was having some difficulty. So... he decided that he had to leave and for us to report back to him with the outcome of the upload. The next day we went to do a test print and lost all cyan, yellow, and most of black. Called the next day and was told that something must be wrong with the head. (Ya Think??) Said they would have to get us a quote and schedule another visit.
Called Mimaki USA and they sent out a factory tech who noticed the captop holder was not installed properly which resulted in misalignment of the captop to the print head. Thus creating a compromised head.
We contacted Beacon Graphics with the factory techs report and the owner stated that the technician he sent was instructed to stay until our machine was 100%. (Then why did he leave before the Rasterlink update completed and do some test prints?)
Now we're stuck with a $2500 bill plus installation.
Any suggestions???? Or just go Legal on them?

If you've otherwise got a good thing going with Beacon, try to work something out with them. I don't know what your volume is, but at the least, they should not be charging for their service visit. They should also cover the manufacturer's tech visit. If you can work out a media or ink compensation for the bill you had to pay, that would probably be a win/win or at least a win/not such a loss kind of a deal (this is from a dealer's point of view, anyway). They step up and you get compensated.

If you don't have an otherwise good relationship, then you may have to go the Judge Judy route.

Good luck.

Their tech botched the job and left you hanging..... they need to pay up! Plain and simple.
