Can not initiate printer do to Microsoft Edge

Guys what is this now with microsoft edge not allowing add printers into Versaworks....
Comeon Roland you can do better than that, man I hate microsoft...

I just reinstalled versa on windows 10 trying to add VSI ,versa recognizes the device and the ip, tries to add the printer and will not go past this screen, what does Microsoft Edge got to do with configuring my printer...
Seams like GATES sticks his nose in every corner of every device...

anyone has had something similar happening ?, I also for some reason can not run Versa by simply clicking on it, I have to launch it each time in administrator mode...

anyone pls and thank you !

DIY Printer Fixing Guide
Microsoft Edge has a function called, Microsoft Edge WebView2, that renders certain UI elements in windows. So Versaworks is trying to use that to render something, most likely a pop up window or something like that, and it's failing. Either you're logged in as a user who doesn't have access to that file or it's broken. The fact that it still doesn't work even in administrator mode, it's more likely that the Microsoft Edge WebView2 is broken. In that case, you can try downloading and repairing that function here: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/?form=MA13LH

If it's adding printers, it's probably hooking up to the website (webview is just a minified browser, most apps on mobile phones use this) that needs authentication in order to add the printer.

This actually isn't a Windows specific issue. The devs of the program have to hook into this lib in order for this to be a thing. Some programs use this exclusively (Canva for instance, Steam also (at least on Linux it does)). As we get further and further into subscription and the web is able to handle more intensive programs, this will probably be more of a thing as it is lighter compared to Electron.

Install Firefox & run your install. I am unfamiliar with your particular issue but the Firefox browser ”knows it’s place”.. it doesn’t “protect you from dangers that aren’t dangers.

there is a silly convoluted process to declare your printer a “trusted site” (they are the last to know that we already trust our printers)

Not to sure about that. The fact that more and more devices require perpetual internet access, the less I trust them.

Now, the one issue that Windows does have is that it tends to rebuke 3rd party browsers (FF has been going downhill as well, I used to keep it around just to have something other than the Blink render engine, but Gecko seems to be getting squashed).
