Can someone teach me this

I have a box. Within the box, I have a reverse panel. The reverse panel touches the 2 outside edges and the bottom.
When I cut it, I get double cut lines on the 3 sides.

I'm sure it has something to do with the compound feature, but I can't get it to work.

Anyone know how to do it

You need to break the top box apart and just have three sides, the top, two sides that stop at the black box.
I don't know flexi though, so I can't tell you how to do it in your program.

Exactly. The only way to avoid double cutting is to have one line. If you have two lines, Flexi will but two lines.

But then even if it did do a double cut, sow what? I your plotter is set to the correct down pressure and your blade exposure is set properly, it shouldn't hurt a thing.With those two thing set correctly you won't cut through the backing, you might end up scoring the back a bit more intensely than usual but you won't cut through it. If these two settings are not correct, you'll probably cut through the backing on the first cut anyway.You should try to avoid the double cut when it doesn't require heroic measures, as in this case, not so much from worrying about the backing, rather concern with the repeatability of your plotter. and ending up with two separate cuts on the media. Unless the object being cut is enormous or your plotter is junk, this is not a large concern.

I have inadvertently double cut many times and t's always been harmless other tha it made me angry with myself for being careless on those occasions where I could have easily avoided it

Weld the two boxes (arrange>combine >weld) and compound the text within.

What I usually do is just slice the outside box at the top 2 corners, so it cuts the bottom box and the 2 slices (see picture). Allows for perfect alignment.

Create another box (any color) where you want the contour cut and then go to Arrange >contour cut > make contour cut -with the new box where you want the cut highlighted.
The box will disappear and the contour cut will remain.

To delete or change the contour cut, right click on the contour cut line and choose what action you want to take from the drop down box.

Weld? Do any of you people recommending welding the two boxes actually use this software? It would appear not. Here's a lesson: When objects are welded they are joined into a single object and common borders cease to exist . That's what weld means ferchrissakes. Thus, for this of you who are particularly dense, the common border at the top of the black box and the bottom of the empty one CEASES TO EXIST. No border==no cut line.

While there may be other ways, welding not being among them, the easiest method is the one previously noted, merely to draw one big box and then snap a horizontal line across it at the appropriate place.

I am 2 months away from being in business 20 years. Every single one of those work days I have used flexi. If I understand his graphic correctly, this is a one-color project. He has a large black border. He has placed a smaller reverse panel on top of that. Welding is the only way.

I have attached a wireframe version as well. Oh, and I centered his text, too.

Now, if this isn't what he is trying to achieve, then, no, he wouldn't want to weld anything.

I like this....

But, I think I discovered that if I have the 2 boxes exactly the same width and center the sides and bottom, I can use
the Combine > Fuse command to weld the sides and bottom. I think it works, but I need to use it a few times to see if it really works. I would think the 2 boxes should be the same color as well
