This isn’t really “sign” related, but I’m wondering if someone might have some knowledge on this:
I have a Canon Pro-10 (13”x19”) photo printer which uses pigment inks. Canon has built-in an automatic and unavoidable cleaning cycle after 60 hours of non use. There is also a more aggressive cleaning cycle which wastes even more ink which occurs after a few weeks of non use, plus a tsunami cleaning cycle that occurs after 45 days of non use. This consumes an enormous amount of their expensive “72” inks. I’m astounded at how much ink it goes through even when not doing any actual prints.
There is a software (Qimage Ultimate) which offers the ability to program in a scheduled nozzle-print which uses almost zero ink and avoids the cleaning, but I’m just wondering if there’s another way of doing this without having to buy that software. Sure, I could do a nozzle-test every other day, but I'd rather not be a slave to that routine, and would like to be able to have it do this if & when I'm away for a week or two.
