can't connect

mimaki cg60 on a mac 10.4.11. think it's a cable problem. tried several cables on newer and aged (7.2!) machines. same result. can't find the cable suggested in the manual. machine tests fine and will cut from the keypad but not the flexicut software in illustrator.

common problem but i never see a solution except "it worked for me"

ideas?
