Hello guys & girls,
I'm trying to half cut rectangle decals and for some reason the corners are snagging and not cutting perfect. Notice the corner of the attached pic. Any thoughts? Thank you

I don't really know why you are getting that corner like that. Since the halfcut works like cutting a dashed line, it looks as though the last cut is just falling in a gap and not a dash spot so the corner cuts aren't meeting up. I do thousands of these regularly and never have a problem but I always put rounded corners on my halfcuts, so if that would work for you I would suggest you try it that way.

You don't happen to know your settings for half cut do you? Half cut length, half cut force, etc? The material is 3M IJ35c with 8509 laminate. I actually have a thousand of these to half cut and would love to figure this issue out this weekend. As of right now I can feel the hair on my head getting more gray! lol

I have three blade holders and keep three blades set to different depths for different materials and settings so for laminated vinyl like your job I use a blade that is extended maybe about 1/64" with the following settings:
Speed 020
Pressure 300
Offset .030

Here are my setting that i use. you have to play with blade depth to get it right.

My decals punch out extremely nice, they do not fall out with the media is moving and it only takes a quick poke to get them out.

this is on IJ35C and 8509 lam. good luck

Thanks guys! I got the corners looking better. I had the blade too far out and it wasn't making the corners. I still think I may need a new blade though because I've never had an issue like this before. Last week I half cut a bunch of super thick convex decals with 8 mil lam and maybe that project dulled my blade? One more question...why do you both have your offset? What does that do? Mine is at 0. If I do a 3" x 5" decal isn't changing that offset making your cut slightly larger or smaller depending on positive or negative offset?

The offset is the distance that the tip of the blade is from the center. Again, if you'd like a PDF version of the Operators Manual for that plotter, PM your email address to me and I'll send you one.
