Connect XC-540 directly to computer?

I just bought a Roland SolJet 3 XC-540 that I'm right now trying to set up.

I'm running VersaWorks 4.0 on a computer with Windows 7. I dont have any internet connection on that computer and I have connected my xc540 directly to the computer with an ethernet cable.

I cant seem to get it to work... I cant set up the printer in versaworks. What do I need to do?

Is the cable a crossover cable?

+1 on the CrossOver cable.

Find the IP address of your PC and then manually set the IP on the XC-540 to one digit higher in IP Range... ie:

PC Addresses:
IP - 192.168.1.2
NetMask - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 0.0.0.0

XC-540 Addresses:
IP - 192.168.1.3
NetMask - 255.255.255.03
Gateway - 0.0.0.0
