Hello,

Can you use 50/50 window perforation for a day night application on a backlit sign?

Printing black letters that need to light up at night.

you would see them during the day but not at night. window perf is not translucent.

3M makes perforated vinyl film for day/night applications. Its definitely not 50/50 tho, more like 70/30. The offer black film that is perfect for black during the day and white illumination at night with white lighting behind it. Is it as bright as a straight white letter? No. Does it look better than the day/night acrylic we have used? Absolutely. They do offer a white film that you can paint/print a specific color for the same effect. If you use a film with too much perforation you start to lose your daytime color.

3635-222 is the black day/white night and the 3635-210 is the White day/White Night, tho it can be printed to be any color.

3M also makes other options for day/night which is the 3635-91 Smoke Gray and 3635-0171 Dark Gray, these are a non perforated vinyl meant to be applied to a white translucent acrylic.

Bitro also makes an acrylic that is dark gray during the day and lights up white at night. Its called Dualite. Fantastic product but it is really expensive and only available through Bitro Group.
