Late on the bandwagon I know, but...
No compromise.
I have no idea why it WOULDN'T be set to high. It obviously wastes serious foil, specially with partial-width prints.
With it OFF, every foil goes from one edge to the other, whether there's 2 or 52 inches of "print" in there. With it ON, every foil stops at the edge of the design -- with the exception of the Optitrac foil: that goes all the way.
I wouldn't have it OFF....
