Good MOrning all,
I need some information on Die cutters ( not cutting tables ), it needs to be for production runs of taking 18"x24" coroplast precuts from a screen printing process, and cutting them down to a particular size ( ie in half or 16"x20", with limited contours if any.
What do you all in the production screen of digital world use ?

Damn. I wouldn't use a laser on PVC even with an air filtration system. Hydrochloric acid / toxic fumes are no joke.

We use a guilotine. We picked up a 49" wide one for $10,000 about 10 years ago. The are worth 10x that new. Cut 3-4 sheets at a time and block the clamp so that it does not crush the coroplast. We have a Standard Paperbox Diecutter for diecutting. Standard is out of business, but I think Thomson is still making diecutters. We do not do much coroplast, but both machines will cut coroplast

Coro isn't typically made from PVC. It's typically polypropylene or sometimes polyethylene. Both can be laser cut fairly safely I believe. You are correct about PVC, that should never be laser cut.

Find an old letterpress in the correct size for the most accurate die-cutting. These days just about everything is digital plotting, NOT die-cutting.

we have two clam shell die cutters and we bend/make steel rule dies.
good for cutting coro for sure.
we also have a router and probably use that more often to cut coro. depends on the quantity. lower qty goes on the router and higher qty we will die cut.
the guillotine cutter i find will damage the coro when cutting (maybe someone has a tip/trick on how to successfully do that)

petepaz Yeah, the only thing we have found is to use a very sharp blade. We have our sharpening service change our blade out weekly. It also helps if there is any way to cut perpendicular to the flutes.
