Edge mainboard fuse

Bugger... thought I'd pop the hatches to do some springcleaning
and whilst hunting down dustbunnies with the vac managed to
smack one of the fuses on the mainboard.

Original vintage Edge mainboard, fuse F2 nearest front.

Looks like M205 size, 0.5A 250V... does anybody know if its Slow or Quick blow?

Thanks in advance :thankyou::signs101:

ok have had a sleep to mull it over before revisiting scene of massacre :frustrated:

pieced together the remains and sure enough, only writing on endcap
is "500mAL250V". Other end is blank apart from usual Stds logos.
None of the usual current-day indication whether its Slow or Quickblow.

Conductor inside appears coiled though, suggesting likely to be slow type.

Noticed glass has printing "Buss GMC" ... Google leads to
http://www.cooperindustries.com/con...es/product-datasheets/bus-elx-ds-4395-gmc.pdf

GMC appears to be time-delay type :toasting:

Sounds like you answered your own question.

If the edge was working, then I don't think using a slow blow will hurt.
If you use a standard fuse, and it was designed for a slow blow, then I think it would keep blowing.

The coil inside that you described sounds like a slow blow to me.

Why don't you call Gerber. You could buy the 50 cent item from them for about 10.00 dollars

thanks matey

this machine is "semi" working  supposedly was running fine
until just before I turned up on the scene... feels like typical
dodgy wiring connection, LCD blank but foil slews.

hence past 5d stripping it down and chasing dustbunnies,
looks like 21yrs of accumulated fluff inside. Gummy gunk too :(
Emptied whole large can of contact cleaner today already.

meh, local Gerber/Spandex barely bothers calling ye back even if your
message begins with "HERE TAKE MY MONEY SELL ME AN FX" :noway:

yeah I stocked up on fuses on the weekend.
Palmful of slows & a crate of quicks... should have enough :Big Laugh
