Envelope warp and text outlines.

I'm stumped. I type text, use the object>envelope distort>reset with warp so I can morph the text in a nice arc. When it looks perfect I can't figure out how to convert the text to outline so I can cut it out. Hmm. I know I must be missing a step. i thought it I converted to outline first then envelope warped it would work, but it doesn't either. I have version 10. Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong?
