Can this print on Outdoor Vinyl and does anyone know how long it would last with out lamination. What is the the best outdoor vinyl that would work with this printer.
Any information about it would be great
Thanks

They will hold up a few months at best. There's lots of non OEM inks for this and it's big brothers, the 7600 and 9600. This can only handle cut sheets which will severely limit your choices. I'm looking into a 44" 9600, for about 3x the price. That's why they have business leasing. I plan to pay mine off over a 12 month period.

they say the 4000 uses roll feed (so it can use rolls of vinyl right?) also the ultrachrome inks. If laminated how long do you think they will last. Are you saying it can't keep printing if you have something that is 12" by 10 feet or something
Thanks Karen

Laminated or not, it's a pigment printer, not a solvent. My guess with lamination up to 1 year as most state. Solvents 2-3 years without lamination. Pigment is simply not in the same league. Then again solvents are not in the same league as good old cut vinyl.
Problem is limitations due to media size. I don't know if they take rolls or not, never really on my list, unlike the 9600. I looked in Ameriban catalog and JSI website, nothing less than 24" wide rolls of paper or vinyl. Not a heck of a lot under 36".
Here's a big manufacturer of inkjet material...

It will print a max length of 100'. However you'd have to find media 17" or less in width in order to feed it. The smallest stuff Epson has is 24" and they don't even list a vinyl in their media guide for this machine. I'd also be wary of putting a 100' roll of vinyl on a machine like this, it's a lot of weight for it to pull through and might cause more problems for you than it's worth. You could have rolls slit down to fit I suppose.

This is more of a photographic printer, good for small indoor stuff. Anything is adaptable so it's not like you couldn't use it for outdoor printing but uncoated would be a mistake and probably result in you reprinting failed product. Here is a link to the Epson website, I hope this helps.
