Yep happens. I just have to wait till the printer is done printing. As the chunk that is missing is sitting in the printing zone about 2" from where the carriage stops and returns. When it's done printing it's going to run all the way to the other side and shove it into the side cabinet.

It wasn't today but one of my biggest mess ups was working on a machine early on in my career before I was trained properly. I didn't take a picture of some cables I had to replace before I took them out and ended up putting them in backwards. Turned the machine on and sparks started flying. Of course we picked up the repair costs for the customer and didn't charge for the service call but boy did I feel like a jerk. Some lessons you have to learn the hard way
So when I tell you on these help posts to double check your cables, it's not because I think you're stupid, it's from personal experience!
