First impressions of my L25500

Now that my new to me 42" L25500 is up and running I have been playing with it trying to figure out the ins and outs of printing with it using Flexi as the Rip. I was amazed at how little effort it took to make this thing spit out beautiful prints. Using the stock Flexi profile for IJ35, I printed these test prints on to Orajet 3640. I am very impressed to say the least. The reds look great, and even the bright green came out pretty nice. The big test print was done in 600 dpi 10 pass, the "RESCUE 1" with my custom "hand laid" gold leaf was done in 1,200 dpi 10 pass. I have only had two issues so far... Flexi throws up a warning when I switch to 1,200 dpi and the printer sounds like it is going to beat itself apart when I try to print in 12 pass. I'm sure both issues were user error. I am going to start playing with some of the stock profiles to see if I can dial it in even more, but all in all I am very happy with this printer and my decision to go with latex.

The HP Media Solutions Locator is a terrific resource for obtaining information and downloading profiles for HP Latex machines. Here is the link:

Among the things that I appreciate most about the HP Latex printers are the ease-of-use to achieve very good image quality, and overall user experience from a maintenance (or lack of maintenance) perspective. The number of posts from users having ink train and nozzle-performance issues (ink starvation, banding, overspray etc) with various brands of piezo-based solvent and eco-solvent printers, compared with the lack of such issues from users of HP Latex machines is a stark study in contrast.

For those interested in learning more about HP Thermal Inkjet Printheads, here is a nice video:
