The problem with Flexi sounds a little similar to what has happened over the past year with moving CorelDRAW-generated artwork into Adobe Illustrator.
If I export an Adobe Illustrator .AI file from CorelDRAW and the file has any live text objects in it the .AI will not open in either Illustrator 2026 or 2025. It doesn't matter what Illustrator file version is chosen at export, be it CS6 or a much earlier format. Illustrator will show an error box stating "Illustrator could partially read this file..." and yadda yadda yadda. The file will open in Illustrator as a blank document. Illustrator will open Corel-saved .AI files just fine if they have no live text objects.
My work-around: I have a copy of Illustrator 2024 still installed alongside the current version of Illustrator. I can open the Corel-saved .AI files in AI 2024 successfully and then re-save the .AI files to then be able to open them in the current version of Illustrator.
Illustrator has different problems with opening Corel-exported art files in EPS or PDF format.

YOU could export a TIF or PNG at 2000 dpi. OR use Photoshop as an intermediary. Photoshop will open your coreldraw files and then resave it from photoshop.
Using Photoshop as an intermediary application will come at the cost of rasterizing any content in the art files. For starters, Photoshop won't open any vector graphics file and keep vector paths intact, not even Adobe Illustrator files. Photoshop can't open CDR files, but it can open files saved in a wide variety of pixel-based formats. The only way to get vector paths into a Photoshop layout is by way of Adobe Illustrator; the paths have to be selected in Illustrator and copied to the clipboard. From there the paths can be pasted into Photoshop as raw AICB paths, smart objects, shape layers or layer masks.
