Flush filter / RF absorber (JFX200) -- cheap replacement?

For those that have bought these consumables, you know like all Mimaki stuff, it is way overpriced and is essentially something that I feel I should be able to get a sheet of the material and cut up my own for 10 cents a pop.

Has anyone sought out and found some suitable replacement material? This stuff is like a polyester felt, kind of like an HVAC or aquarium filter media, but a little more dense. I have seen similar material in other waste ink containers/absorbers also. Someone must have found a cheap replacement material??? TIA!

It's the same stuff they use for oil absorbent pads used by mechanics and in industrial settings. Can buy it dirt cheap in all sorts of thicknesses, on rolls, flat sheets, etc.
