Gemini Flat Cut Acrylic Letters Fully Taped For Frosted Acrylic Falling off?

Gemini doesn't have any specs or instructions regarding the mounting of flat cut acrylic letters on frosted acrylic. Is this something that Gemini recommends with their own taped letters? Has anyone else had an issue with letters falling off?

Ask Gemini, they're super helpful!
I know the tape they use is no longer rated for exterior use, but haven't had any issues with it sticking to acrylic for interior use.

Thanks. These were just regular interior installation on a piece of frosted acrylic. Several letters just fell off inside of several weeks and these were just 3-4" high text. We use Gemini almost exclusively and this never happens so we were wondering if maybe it was something specific with the frosted messing up adhesion with the tape.

Tape and silicone do not adhere well to the rough side of frosted acrylic. Your best bet is to apply VHB and Lexel and let it cure for a few days before installing.

Assuming you tried to use tape and silicone the first time, you'll need to make sure your tape and Lexel don't land where the silicone was previously because it won't stick to that either.

These were pre-taped letters from Gemini. And since they paint with the tape already on, if you peel the tape off, you fracture the paint on the bottom edge. A cluster.

Use the tape along with Lexel. The tape will hold it until the Lexel sets up, which takes a while. You'll want the sign laying flat while the Lexel cures.

Tape is fine for interior use, Acrylic WELD is best for exterior. Good luck

If substrate is thoroughly cleaned and degreased GE silicone 2 will work as well as Lexel but with a faster set/cure time. Tape alone will almost certainly fail in time inside or out.

Sorry, but in the interest of helping the OP, none of this is accurate.

if vinyl will stick to frosted why not cut the letters out of vinyl and then adhere to the vinyl on top of frosted maybe add some vhb on top of their tape

If I were to start this from the beginning, I'd get stud mounted letters and through bolt the letters to the frosted panel.
