Gerber Odyssey Not Aligning Material

I'm having 2 issues with my Gerber Odyssey plotter and I'm curious is anyone has a solution. The first issue has probably been around for a year. For some reason the pinch roll lever is "off". It doesn't register in the right position. The lever needs to be propped up about a 1/2". I solved that by clipping a pen to it(see attached) and I've operated it like that since the problem occurred. I only mention it in case it might help with my second problem. That is I'm having issues with the auto-align. When I put material in, usually 24", and auto-align starts it pushes the vinyl away from the optical eyes. When it is pulling the material backwards, away from the user, it is fine but as soon as the material starts to come forwards it seems to go off. Its as if the pinch rollers nearest to the controls are moving too slow. Doesn't matter if it is a sheet or roll of material. Any ideas?

We have to clean our rollers weekly to keep our odyssey tracking. But screen printing tends to put alot of fuzz in the air. Maybe your rollers are dirty. Or the pinch roller needs to be replaced.
