Getting a sign off wallpaper?

I have in install we did for a office sign, installed on wall paper, vinyl wallpaper. The customer will not let us use VHB on it, so it has to be the green foam tape. It works okay, but I'm not happy with it and they refuse to let us use anything stronger or silicone.

Installed a sign last week and they not have changed their mind and want it moved. So I'm trying to figure out how to get the sign off the wallpaper without pulling the wallpaper away from the sheetrock, which is what typically happens. I've heard for years that there's a piano wire tool that works well for this stuff, and I've heard the tool mentioned, but I can't recall the name.

I can certainly buy some piano wire, I have a local source for that, all different sizes, but if there's a tool already out there, I'm happy buying that.

My hope is to slip it behind the sign and cut the foam tape in half, then I can work off the foam tape slowly, little by little.

Any tips, ideas or tools?

Thanks-

That is what folks use for the foam on car emblems. Guitar or fishing line used in a sawing motion. A little heat doesn't hurt anything if you can get away with it.
