Getting nowhere in the profiling world

MNT_Printhead

No longer working among the Corporate Lizards!
If you know what you are doing ICCs don't mean much and aren't needed. I ran 9 printers for a shop with ICC and was still the eyes that made it match most of the time.

Part of the problem is, a lot of people that are just starting out in the sign industry get told by printer manufacturers that if they buy their printer, it will be a turnkey solution. Just plug it in and start printing money. It sells printers but it doesn't educate at all.
Low barrier to entry and little to no formal resources to help get people started is the culprit that is preyed on by manufacturers. I was one of those people for the longest time, but we had to evolve, and once we learned there is so much to gain.

When I bought my Mimaki UCJV330, I paid an expert to come in and create profiles for it because the default profiles in Rasterlink were terrible. I shadowed him the whole time to learn and he was more than willing to educate me. There is a lot to know and I won't pretend to know everything. He did say if I wanted to create my own profiles, to go to Ebay and find an EFI spectro. It's basically an X-rite with different branding. When I switched from Rasterlink to Onyx Thrive, I used it to create profiles for the UCJV330 and it worked great at a fraction of the cost of an X-rite. I got the ES-2000, if anyone is wondering.
