Hi everyone,

I’m new to Signs101 and recently started working on a few outdoor signage projects. I’ve been following the forum for a while and finally decided to join — lots of valuable discussions here!

I’m mainly interested in large-format digital signage and outdoor display setups. Would love to learn from your experiences — especially around installation challenges or creative use of digital displays outdoors.

What’s one common mistake you see beginners make when working with outdoor signage?

Looking forward to connecting with you all.

One common mistake: thinking that water based pigment ink print will last outside even though you bought waterbase vinyl and laminated it.

How's producing signage for China?

Im going back down in March. But last time I was there it's like they didn't care about quality.... Everything was slapped up quickly, lots of typos in the English at least, everything was crooked...

Nothing was faded though, my guess is there's a fast turn around. Is there sooooo much competition that everything is super cheap?

Quality has really come a long way especially on their wraps, when I first came here anything to do with vinyl was aufull, like you mentioned it was all wrinkly, air bubbles everywhere and crooked, now It's to par but they still don't put spaces between words and some English words are misspelled, I see it mostly in government buildings.

Nanjing, Jiangsu . My in laws still live there, so we visit once in awhile... Haven't been back since before covid though as they've been coming out here more often... But they're in their 70s now, so the 12 hour plane ride is getting to be too much for them.

I love China, but I'm not a fan of the food, so I never look forward to going back!

Yeah, that makes sense. 12-hour flights are tough, especially for older family members, and Nanjing is nice. I can understand not looking forward to the food, some of it can be hard to get used to.

How can you not like the foods? I thought Chinese food in the US was good until I moved here, the food here is on a whole other level compared to what I was eating back home. I visted family and friends last Christmas I don't miss Chicago at all

I'm very very picky. 90% of what I eat is chicken and hamburger... I don't like slimey chicken / chicken with skin, which is 90% of Asian chicken.... And I couldn't find a good burger for the life of me.

I like the Chinese food that isn't really Chinese! Beijing beef, sweet n sour chicken... Sesame chicken, etc. I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food :roflmao:

Last time I was there, I tried every fast food burger.... Nothing was good, it was edible but the beef was so dried and salted....I ended up mainly eating rice and fruits for every meal.

But that's a me thing, I know tons of people love real Chinese food.... I've learned I'm very picky and abnormal when it comes to food!
