HELP! Something tougher than MESH!

A couple of large avenue banners (30" x 70") hang together vertically on a cast pole using avenue banner hardware. They are printed on both sides of mesh and have been sewn and configured every possible way, but usually within any given year they simply can't handle the wind in this location and either blow-out or tear the fittings apart. Clearly there is a lot of wind at the site, and it looked like "job security" until the new management said "no more mesh... we want something stronger."

Has anyone done banners on stainless steel screening or something that could let enough wind through it to withstand 80 mph wind gusts? We no longer need to do 2-sided graphics although it would be preferred.

One other thought... to you solvent guys... is it possible that 2-sided mesh, solvent printed, is weakened by the inks???? Is latex a better option? Would 1-sided printing yield a tougher product?

80 mph?!! Wow, cat-1 hurricanes begin to register at 70mph here in Florida!!

Maybe a thin, braided cable could be laced in somehow for added support.
Don't know how you would keep the hardware from
snapping when the banner doesn't give out.
