I found the site while doing the old google search comparison between Mimaki UV and HP latex while looking to add to my printers. Thought i would join and introduce myself

Welcome,

We're from Melbourne - Aus too.

You're also comparing apples and oranges. UV vs Latex. Different inks, different applications.

I was more looking for reviews and experiences of each, than so much a comparison.
I found a lot of posts, with kind of a lot of conflicting info, (most not on current models) So Ive done a demo on the Mimaki and are trying to tee up on for the latex probably the HP 730w but no suppliers have one available at the moment.

So what do you currently use? What's your workflow like and exactly what type of projects... Or production are you looking to expand in? In other words, what's your experience, and where are you looking to go?

I currently run 2 Roland Xr640's obviously eco solvent but I am really looking to get rid of the out gassing. We also do a lot of fabricated signs so printing is not the only thing we do but it is the majority.
We do vehicle signage / wraps, pos, banner and some wall graphic and windows both one way and solid and event / Function
Also looking for an upgrade in speed.

We don't have much need for white but am thinking to add it.
I didnt think Mimaki was good for wraps. So i was leaning towards the HP but on the demo they showed me that they do a conformable and stretchable ink, that 3m warrants for up to 7 years on there vinyl.
That put the Mimaki back on my mind.

Long term i would probably end up with both options in the shop but really not sure what to start with.

Also the mimaki did impress me with its ease of use and speed.

Hp is more common for wraps when you start looking past ecosol. So i'd look there.

UV can to everything but wraps.
We're a UV/UVGel shop. so we know what we can and cannot do with UV although UVgel has changed a lot of that.
