How much can a TU2 hold?

I typically don't go over around 5 metres on my take up.

Recently have had a couple of long jobs - where it's ideal to have it rolled up as one piece. Am taking up to 10-12 metres on my TU2 take up.

Just wondering what other people's real world experiences are with how much can be comfortably taken on this device.

Thanks in advance!

I've put full rolls on the take up 45 metres.

Just make sure the core your using isn't used or worn on the inside.

What can happen is the plastic inserts can spin and not grip the core and free spin and you get media hitting the floor. But the motor mechanism etc is fine with it.

Thanks Jason,

I had a feeling it should go up to around 20 or so without a problem - I rarely need to do more than 10 or so on one core at a time in any case - I just didn't want to find out the hard way if you know what I mean! Today I did around 15 and it was ok.

Re the slipping core... I have had that problem, which is quite annoying... I read a good post here by someone else having a similar problem on an epson I think... and they suggested using rubber bands on the gripping parts. I tried that and it seemed to work good the whole roll through, I didn't get any slippage.

One of these days will get a chance to do a full 45m I hope! ;)

Another thing to take note of is static.

When I run some materials what happens is the material bunches up on the heater bed. So you get like 10cm of material extra that loops on the bed. The weight of the dancer bar then will pull this down and because you have so much material coming down so fast the take up unit can't roll up fast enough and then the dancer bar is all the way down and your take up is disengaged. So be careful of these materials unattended.

Hope that helps.

Thanks will keep an eye out for that. Is that for any particular type of material or it can happen with anything? I am yet to experience that.
