Check out the close up of a squid's skin at around 2:30 in this video.
Looks like variable droplet sizes in inkjet printing, and/or pixels, dynamically changing shape!
Imagine if they are able to electronically control and emulate this type of device on say a computer screen or a print media!
The funny thing is, the scientist mentions that these guys are colourblind... so... how the hell???
I wish they could speak english, they could come in handy for colour matching troubleshooting! I could just glue them to the substrate and tell em to stay there for 3-5 years.
