How to enter unicode characters to Flexi?

Symbols like ¢, © and ® turn up as a question mark when copied and pasted, or typed directly into Flexi, while every other software supports them just fine.
This has also raised concerns that SAi is not catching up with the world. Rather, they are spending too much time and resources into the mediocre SAi Cloud.
How can I enter them as characters, rather than as vector object? I need to attach some of the characters in a paragraph that I will be doing a lot of formatting on.

with the text on go into text/insert symbol I think it says and you can insert any of those fancy little do dad's. I am at home and don't have flexi here but I believe I gave you the correct way to insert them.

Richard is spot on.

"Text > Insert Symbols" give you access to all of the "fancy little do dad's" AND gives you the choice to scroll through the font choices to see how the do dads look in different font faces.

I'm not sure Flexi supports the true Unicode stuff. Alt characters in specific fonts, yes, as indicated in the first replies.

Unicode stuff is the real odd characters that you can even type here on the forums by pressing alt+ the character code. There are tons of them...

Might have to load Unicode specific fonts like dingbats or type the stuff in Illustrator or Corel and convert the type to outlines first to get some stuff in.

Just to clarify, I did use unicode fonts, and insert symbols doesn't work. Most of the unicode symbols show up as an "X" inside a rectangle, in the Insert Symbols dialog. When inserted to the work space, they become question marks.
