Hp designjet 800ps and Onyx 10

Hi all

This is my very first post, in a completely new field (I know very little about print other than what i have been using in the last few month to make canvases, but willing to learn) so I apologize if I seen a noob at all of this, because I am!

The Problem:

No matter what I do I cannot get a print out of the printer. All seems to work fine, no errors and even the printer springs to life to give you a little hope it's going to do something, but, after less than a minute of the head moving a little bit (not a full move across the printer) it goes into a 5min drying time with nothing printed. All very strange.

**Yet if i print through Photoshop as i have for the last few month it works fine, just started to look in to the RiP side as i am looking more at getting myself a HP L25500 for my business**

I have scanned through as many posts as I can but not seen anything similar (apologize if I missed it!) so I wondered if any had any ideas what the issue might be?

It's running on Win 8 x64. I also have tried it on Win xp and server 2003.
It's running across the network (not usb).
Everything is run as administrator.

Maybe I should start with a more simple RIP to understand the process?

Thanks in advance for any and all help or suggestions.

I normally just print direct to the hp800ps through the postscript driver. I have onyx10, but never thought to even print through it. I only use the hp800 for simple files or vector. I have noticed that pdfs created in windows 8 give me goofy results. Like some text not printing, errr, so then I tell it to print as a image.

We are running windows 7, and we print everything from a pdf.

Our hp25500 has worked very well for us.

i have never really had an issue with it printing i have it chipped and large inks fitted so every time i turn it on the inks are full, 1000ml inks :D i mainly use the 800ps for canvases but wanting to expand to bigger things :)

only decided to try playing with the RiP as i want to get a hp25500 and i figured i might as well get used to the whole RiP side of things before the new printer turns up
