HP L25500 head problem

We have an L25500 and for some reason have been having problems with the 3rd head (1st Y+K print head)

For some reason it keeps saying that it is going back and cancels the prints. Usually all we have to do is take the head back out and replace it and it will accept it and will print some more and then eventually it does the same thing. We have already received two new heads from HP and it still has done the same thing both times.

It also has a problem with coming up with the clean carriage rail and we read that all you do is go through the motions to do that and it goes away which when it is up on the screen it will not print. We have done that everytime it comes up and it has worked so far. We still have been having problems with only the 3rd head.

Would anyone know what is causing this or has anyone else had this problem?

Not sure but I suspect the ribbon cable or connector is acting up. Clean the line sensor as a precaution since it can cause grief. You can also pop the heat shield on the carriage and check if any electrolytic capacitors have puffed. If so, order a new board or try to repair.

As far as the Clean Carrige Rail fault. The latest firmware has seemed to address this issue and it no longer happens as often.

"Clean Carriage Rail" In case you are just cleaning and not changing the felts, that might be an issue.
DO you know when was the last time you changed the carriage felts?

It that was not done recently, do it, and that will fix it.

We had just recently replaced pretty much everything on the printer within the last month or so.
