HP latex 570 stuck in sleep mode!

Hi everyone,

I’ve bought a used HP 570 latex printer. I’m new to the sign making business and I have lots to learn. I’ve had nothing but issues with this thing since I got it. Right now my printer is stuck in sleep mode. I try to press the power button on the front screen and it doesn’t do anything. I also try to open the front window and it still doesn’t do anything. I’ve tried unplugging and plugging it back in with it going right to sleep mode. I’m wondering if anyone on here has had the same issue or has some suggestions for me?

Thanks

I would start with updating the firmware.

Without knowing what does "it going right to sleep mode" mean, like does it instantly go back to sleep after starting? You can't even get to any menu?

Yes it goes right back to sleep mode after starting. I can’t get to the menu at all.

This is nearly impossible. Sleep mode is meaning that the panel button is blinking. Is there initialization of any device working? Is the carriage moving?

The panel button is blinking. There is no initialization of any device working. I’ve tried pressing the panel button a million times along with lifting the front window and nothing happens. I talk to an HP tech awhile ago about this and he made it sound like the hard drive could be failing.

What happens if you switch the unit at the main switch? Please provide the status of the three LED’s near the main switch

There’s just one light on and it’s yellow.
Just the amber led means printer is off on frontpanel. Does leds change when pushing the the fp button? The button should alight, and what happens on the rear led‘s? And maybe you can check the 3 led near network connector.

So had the tech to my place yesterday and he replaced the PCA board. We fired it back up and it still did the same thing. Now they are saying it could be the trailing cable or the main power box. Very frustrating.

Hey Signguruniagara, did you manage to fix this issue?

We have the exact same problem - printer working fine last week, powered down over the weekend and now the pulsing blue light is on at the front panel, only amber LED on the PSU and the printer won't start. When pressing front panel power button nothing happens, holding power button also does nothing. Power cycling at the power point also doesn't fix the issue.

Any thoughts? We've got a Latex 360.

Thanks!

I am thinking maybe your power button is not actuating the physical switch under it.

Remove the display cover and try to press the switch without the plastic frame.

Hi there,

We did end up fixing my problem. It ended up being the main PCU board. It wasn’t cheap to fix but got it working. I’ve had nothing but problems with my 570. I bought it used. I have a 630 coming to my shop next week so I’m hoping I have a lot better luck with it.

Thanks for the update - Signguruniagara, just to confirm, is the main PCU board mentioned in your post above the Main Power Supply Unit?

Thanks Balstestrat, thanks for the idea, we have pulled off the side covers and checked the switches, to confirm that the physical switch is being pressed correctly.

Yes it’s the main power supply unit. I watch the tech put the new one in. It didn’t seem very hard. It’s the box at the back of the machine where the main power plug plugs into.
