I've been using our machine now for some time and so far so good. No issues, no errors at all. Printing great.

I can probably answer a lot of questions if someone wants to know something.

We have an FB500 that we are looking at swapping off of in the near future. What's the similarities? How is better/worse? What's the maintenance like?

We don't do high volume. Rarely will I do 4x8s the entire 8hrs I'm here. We also have a Roland XR-640 so I imagine that will still be our primary R2R workhorse, but it would be nice to have a backup option. How does the R2R perform on the R530?

Similarities? Not much I'd say. Same idea, both have a belt and roll printing but quite different machine and ink.
There really isn't much maintenance. You replace the maintenance cartridge and ink container every so often. Printheads when those wear out.

Works fine with R2R and as you already have a roll machine it's a nice compliment for it. I wouldn't necessary leave the R as the only roll capable printer but I think you might be quite positively surprised.
