Hybrid flatbed recommendations?

I am currently running two HP Scitex FB750 printers. The printers are at end-of-life. HP will no longer offer support, parts are limited, and it's becoming more difficult to find technicians to help with repairs. So, we're beginning the search for a new printer. We had an FB700 before the FB750s, so this general printer design is how we have operated for more than 10 years.

I am looking at the HP Latex R series printers, and it's a good option. We're just trying to be diligent and check for other options before settling on how the business could operate for the next decade.

Can anyone offer recommendations for hybrid flatbed printers?

I almost exclusive print corrugated plastic pre-cut blanks through the printer. We usually have four 24" wide pieces running (various lengths) all day long. We like how easy it has been to train anyone we hire to keep the printer running.

We really do not want to go to a true flatbed. We do not have a router, and even if the print could be set up with our pre-cut blanks it seems like a bigger hassle to keep it all going. Someone might be able to prove us wrong; it's just hard for us to imagine our workflow working as easily with a true flatbed.

Maybe Agfa or Vutek if you want some options to consider.

Corrugated plastic works really nice on the R. Ink adheres well and you don’t need any antistatic system or even cleaning the surface which might be the case with some UV.

If I was you and interested in the R, I would take a look at the used market. Really good deals out there. The machine itself is solid, not too many issues and pretty easy to repair. 60k is a steal.

HP recently introduced a new Al-In-One (hybrid) flatbed Latex printer called the R530. It comes in at under 100k, and produces the among the highest image quality on an entry level flatbed printer that I have seen. It is even easier to use than the FBs, supports your preferred workflow of pre-cut boards (or full boards), hasa lower maintenance signature, and far higher image quality than the FBs.
