So, I decided I wanted to try FreeNAS
All I have is an old Dell Optiplex GX240 (p4, 2.8GHz, 512 ram, 80 gig drive) to try it on.
FreeNAS suggests "Burn ISO to 4 gig (min) jump drive instead of using a HD for the OS".
Come to find out, the GX240 cannot boot from USB even if you upgrade the BIOS.
What to do?
I found this
Plop Boot Manager
Burn ISO to CD, boot from CD and (hey, hey!) USB is now a boot options.
Tried FreeNAS, looks real cool. Gonna give it a try.
Hope this helps somebody.
