I make no illusion that this will continue to be a thing and as more and more users are used to the abstraction and not knowing how to do things that would be under the hood, it'll get bigger, just glad that I don't have to worry about it.

Unfortunately, I also remember this.

The last thing that I remember being clarified was within a blog/social media post (with regard to the second article), which (although not a lawyer, so keep all that in mind) is not exactly binding compared to what is in their EULA/ToS etc. When it comes to something like this, I'm wildly risk adverse. Just glad that I don't have to be dependent on something like this.

I think it will be sort of like the information gathering that companies like Google and Facebook denied for decades until enough people just accepted it as normal and now they don't even have to deny it. In 10-20 years people will say, of course they're using it to train their model, everyone's doing it.

Or enough people don't care about it, the unfortunate thing about it. With regard to data collection, I can't tell you how many I have heard "well I have nothing to hide, so it doesn't bother me" and we aren't talking about young bucks talking that way either. Unfortunately, we all have something that we would rather others not know (and it doesn't always have to be illegal, although people seem to think that's the only thing that people don't want others knowing).

Sad state of affairs.
