ICC and Custom Profiles

Is anyone familiar with Creating a custom profile for a certain Color? Our Printer has struggled with red/s after a Printhead replacement. (VJ1624). We just had the pleasure of replacing the head again. Now the reds are nice but the Black isn't what I would call pure. I know we can add C, M,Y but it seems when we have done something similar in the past, It gave the black a green hue.

buy an X Rite. Expensive and a learning curve, but if your gonna adjust/correct colors, this is probably the best method.

What kind of printer/rip are you using?
The shop I work in, we print everything as RGB files. If you print your pantone/swatch charts in RGB format and color match from there you can get a gamut boost into more saturated and bold colors.
But we also print with vivid profiles that just increase ink density that will boost colors quite a bit. As far as black goes, we also use a black rich mix and when rendering in photoshop or illustrator, the richblack render is always selected. So wether you're seeing a rich or true black on screen, it will always render as a rich black and that is a setting inside the settings options.
