Illustrator CS2 Blending

In Illustrator cs2 I have question about modifying blend path with the [Object] - [Blend] - [Replace Spine] feature... this existing blend has a straight spine. I penned a curved line and positioned it over blended image and selected both. When the 'spined is replaced' the result is like a mirror flip, and the images in the blend are:help out of formation. Just looking to get a slight curve to the images.
