Okay, not sure if this is the appropriate section for this. But here goes, bear with me.....

I'm trying to design motocross graphics in illustrator. I have my template and all that stuff ready to go. What I'm having problems with is having my design that I put onto the template not cutting to the edge like I would like. I've tried using things like the divide tool in pathfinder and actually drawing my design to the edge of the template.

Does anyone have any other way that they can help me out??? I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi,

I'm assuming you have all the graphics on the same layer.
Once you have completed your design. (You can and should bring your design all the way to the edge of the template. Even let the graphics go past the boundaries of the template as this will create a "bleed" for you.)
Select your template (the template only) copy it, then past it in front. Ctrl + C then Ctrl + F. Or Edit > Copy then Edit > Paste in front. What you are going to do is use the copy of the template as a clipping mask. Now select you entire graphic and choose Object > Clipping Mask > Make. Or press Ctrl + 7. On the resulting shape you can put your contour cut or cut the image by hand.

Be sure and put holes in the piece going on the tank when it's cut.

Thanks, They are actually there, Just have them off for the time being. When designing I find those holes are very annoying and I add them back onto the graphic layer before printing. Sucks when I forget though
