importing eps file

I am having trouble importing EPS files. At first they worked then it got were it only worked sometimes. I thought it was because some eps file names were long, so i shortened them and it worked or maybe it was a quinsidence. But now I cant get a single eps file to import. It shows the hour glass like it is gonna import then it dissapears and nothing imports. SAi cant help me, they say it is my computer. I am able to import any other file type.

Any help would be great, most the files my customers send me are EPS.
