Ink tank issue, not sure how to prevent.

Been having issue at work, with the ink having to be cleaned off the top of the ink tanks. Any way to prevent this from occurring or to be having to be cleaned off as such? I am not sure how this happens either.
Thank you for any help or experiences you can give me.
