Installing Break Away Traffic Signs

We have to install some break away traffic signs tomorrow. The basics are pretty easy but there are most likely specific standards for installation, such as the amount and depth of concrete, exact position of the splice, etc.

Does anyone know the standards or know where I would find them?

There is a ton to sift through there. I can tell you we put the splice 3-4" above ground. And the bottom of the sign has to be 7' from the ground. Most aren't, but that's what they are supposed to be.

You have to look up the standards in your city of install. Unless Highway then do a search for FHWA Sign Install Specs on google. If you call the city they should be able to send you a copy of the specs for install. Usually you have to call Public Works.
