Instant One Media

We use Instant One Media(Calendered) to do race car "wraps" on modifieds & street stocks. I am wondering about shrinking around rivets, if I can use a torch & which kind of gas I would want to use. I normally use the heat gun on 1200*F and use my finger to go around the rivets but would like to adapt to a torch and RollePro. My questions are:
-Can I/should I use a torch to shrink the rivets?
-What kind of torch/gas are you using?
-What method of prep do you use?

Nothing against Instant One Media but using calendared vinyl over rivets is not an ideal situation. They have some pretty nifty tools available for applying over rivets though.

You're not using cast on racecars lol...

To the OP...you can't rollepro them unless you leave an air channel which is hard to do on racecars because the rivets are not always in a straight line. Easy thing to do is heat and push down with your finger or a rivet tool. Torch will work fine

No way would I use cast film on a race car. Racers expect everything "cheap" and the only way to do it and get business is to use calendered IOM media--besides that, the cars can't go a night without a wrinkled panel or wreck haha. This media is more stiff because of its calendered properties, but just seeing what people have done and used it for. I will stick to the needle wheel/finger method and try the torch.

Do u use the Instant One Media laminate for your vinyl as well? It can shrivel up if left in the hot sun over time(such as over the summer). It's only good for short term applications.

Yes we use the IOM laminate as well.

The one thing I can say I don't like about the IOM is it isn't a true white--it is an off white which kind of drives me nuts
